The Figures
2015

Richard Prince's "The Figures" series was showcased at Luxembourg & Dayan, New York, from April 23 to June 6, 2015. This exhibition highlighted Prince's deep-rooted interest in figure drawing, a passion that dates back to his arrival in New York City in 1974. Despite the out-of-fashion status of figure drawing at the time, Prince was drawn to it, seeing it as a continuation of a tradition embraced by notable artists throughout history. He approached figure study as a solitary activity, often visiting museums to draw from the human form. The series features mixed media works, including ink jet, oil crayon, pastel, acrylic, and charcoal on canvas, showcasing Prince's exploration of the human figure and its conventional representation in art (Lévy Gorvy Dayan).
