Hirshhorn Museum (2017)

The Hirshhorn Museum commissioned Swiss artist Nicolas Party to create a large-scale, immersive mural titled "sunrise, sunset" in summer 2017. This site-specific mural, painted directly onto the museum's wall, spanned nearly 400 feet, encircling the inner-ring gallery. It depicted the daily phenomena of sunrise and sunset, using them as metaphors to explore the themes of time's cyclical nature and the continuity between past, present, and future. This work marked Party's first solo exhibition in Washington, D.C. (Smithsonian Institution).
